Morning Routine
My day starts at 7 AM with a quick huddle at the office. We discuss the day’s schedule and any special instructions for the jobs lined up. As an HVAC technician, my work involves installing, repairing, and maintaining air conditioning systems for residential and commercial clients.
On the Road
After grabbing my tools and supplies, I head out to the first job site. Today, it’s an air conditioning installation for a newly constructed home in Spotsylvania, VA. Upon arrival, I inspect the site and ensure all the necessary preparations have been made for the new system.
Installation Process
- Unload and position the outdoor and indoor units
- Run the refrigerant lines and electrical wiring
- Mount the indoor unit and connect the ductwork
- Install the outdoor unit and make necessary connections
- Vacuum and charge the system with refrigerant
- Test and calibrate the system for optimal performance
Lunch Break
Around noon, I take a well-deserved break for lunch. This is a chance to recharge and prepare for the afternoon’s work, which often includes air conditioner service or repair calls.
Afternoon Appointments
My next stop is in King George, VA, where a customer has reported issues with their central air conditioning system. After diagnosing the problem, I explain the necessary repairs to the homeowner and get their approval before proceeding.
Wrapping Up
As the day winds down, I make my way back to the office in Fredericksburg, VA. I complete any necessary paperwork, restock supplies, and prepare for the next day’s schedule. It’s a rewarding job, knowing that I’ve helped keep people comfortable and energy-efficient in the hot Virginia summers.
